Change and sonder: my best friends

I feel like all my life I've been traveling. Through my lifetime, it’s a miracle if I stay in the same place for more than a year. Change and I have been best friends for as long as I can remember. She has been the only constant in my life.

You know how it is: you go somewhere, you get all excited and scared at first maybe a bit homesick but then you find your home in all those places you never thought you could. You find your new favorite restaurant, a friendship you never thought you would actually have something in common, or find a song that you can't comprehend how you lived without that perfect song.

I love that part, the part of creating memories, not having them. But if I'm being super honest, I also like having the feeling of goodbye, it packs all those memories you had in your hometown, or all that you have lived during a trip. That sense of accomplishment, gratitude, sadness and heartbreak all at once. You can't look at the city the same way, nobody starts and ends anything being the same person. It's literally all you have ever lived, within you.

Even though I haven't been in all the places Marcos takes the photos at, hell I don't even know where they are. I have been there at heart, the feeling of looking at a city and realizing that everything you have ever lived stays with you, not in the places, even though the places stay there, and you don't. But then it hits you: everybody's lives are as complex as yours, there's even a word for it: "sonder". Maybe somebody got their heart broken the same night, in the same restaurant as you. There are so many people in this world and so many stories that the possibility of it happening is much bigger than the possibility of it not happening.

So many lives, so many cities, so many stories. And we only have one to get as much as we can
These photos give me the need to expand my world, to travel, to know as much as I possibly could in this life.

There's a common phrase that says that life is what passes you by when you're worried about other things. Marcos is the one that stops and shows us everything that's going on when we don't notice. I'd like to thank him and encourage him to encapsulate the complexity of everybody's life in one single photo.
